Cathedral Ruins
From Legendarium
The Cathedral Ruins is one of the most ancient and well preserved ruins in the world, so ancient that it may once have had another name than simply “Cathedral Ruins,” but no one knows what that name may have been. It is said that they are the ruins of one of the first religious buildings ever constructed and that its grounds are a focus point of magical energy. (This makes it one of the rare Knackings.) The ruins consist of a partially collapsed large stone building grown over with a variety of ivies and vines, as well as several smaller structures that may once have served as dwellings and a variety of mostly corroded statues. These statues have been the subject of much heated debate as a great number of historians and religious figures have attempted to claim that they represent gods, saints, or historical figures of one sort or another; however, none have ever been able to find much basis for their claims.
The Ruins stand today, surrounded for miles by lush green hills only sparsely populated by the occasional shepherd and his family, as a tourist attraction, frequented by the religious, the adventurous, and the curious alike. Some come simply to see the structure, others come to pray to the figures they believe the statues represent, while even others come to experience the feeling of peace and fulfillment supposedly offered by the Ruins. A few also come in an attempt to use the focused magical energy in order to accomplish some goal, though it is said that all of these folks have left the Cathedral Ruins unsatisfied.
